Should My Kid Take Guitar or Piano Lessons?

Learn Piano Add comments

As parents, you probably want to provide as many learning opportunities to your child as you possibly can afford. Areas that contribute to a child’s overall well-being include good health, educational opportunities, and positive encouragement. Some of the best extra-curricular learning classes for kids include art classes or guitar lessons. Watching your child develop new skills such as painting or playing the guitar are some of the best, most joyful moments in life?

Music lessons are a beneficial addition to anyone’s life, and are especially great for developing a child’s creativity. Most guitar lessons for beginners courses are suitable for children to learn to play the guitar. The skills that are enhanced through music or art lessons include increased abilities in mathematics, concentration, focus, plus a healthier sense of self esteem and confidence. Music lessons have so many positive outcomes and advantages (no matter the effort or cost).

In selecting a musical instrument for your child, one must take into consideration these circumstances: cost, size, convenience, and availability. Size does matter - a smaller child (with small hands) may have difficulty learning to play the piano, but here are child sized guitars to help them. If you can afford a piano (and have room in the house for one) it is an excellent thing for a kid to learn to play! But if you feel you can’t invest what is needed with other types of lessons, due to the aforementioned factors, the best choice for your child would be a guitar for beginners course.

With the many choices of musical instruments, why would the guitar be a good choice? Budget-wise, guitars are not as expensive as other musical instruments, such as violin saxophone or piano. As your child gains knowledge and experience with their music skills, they will have those to develop as they grow up. Pianos require a professional tuner and can be expensive to move, whereas guitars are easy to store, carry and tuning is also easy.

You can easily carry a guitar to a friend’s or on a vacation (or just about anywhere). This is a huge consideration because kids love to play around and explore. Guitar practice and sharing a song can take place at school, on the playground, at a backyard barbecue or outside while enjoying an inspirational view of nature. With a paino, the space it takes up and it’s inability to be used in more than one place can be a problem.

There are a variety of ways to learn to play the guitar such as local music teachers or online videos. There are also several good guitar lesson DVDs for your child to learn from. Kids are fast learners and they can easily pick up by watching demos. Every detail can be seen on guitar lessons videos to help a student be able to learn. Another way that parents can make sure their child gets the most out of learning to play the guitar is to purchase a teacher’s version of a training course which has a lesson plan so the parent will be able know whether their child is learning what they should be. The lessons that provide teacher and student workbooks are great for homeschooling or for parents to track their child’s guitar learning progress.

Most kids are inpired to learn to play the guitar because of the many celebrity musicians they know about and idolize. As kids are able to learn about music, chords and timing (and even how to read musical notes) with the guitar, many later want to learn to play the piano – they will be better able to learn a second instrument having mastered one.

Kids who have multiple areas of interest that they can develop make for wholer, happier adults. This is the best that parents can wish for their children. So give your child the gift of music with kids’ guitar lessons. You might find your child has some musical talent that you would not have known about - it’s up to you to help them get started learning to play a musical instrument.
